E2K SP3, KB870540 applied, but still getting 9582 "fragmented" events
Hi, One of my clients is still running Exchange 2000 SP3 on a Windows 2000 SP4 box with 53 users and mailboxes. It's been running fine for a looong time (obviously!). I perform database defrags about once each month with no issues. We recently installed GFI Mail Essentials to filter spam, and we started getting #9582 event warnings about fragmented virtual memory almost immediately. If the Exchange services aren't recycled (or the server isn't rebooted), the warnings turn into errors and Exchange becomes dizzy. I applied the KB870540 post SP3 rollup, which was supposed to fix that problem, but I can now get about one day out of a fresh recycle/reboot before the warnings appear again. I'm sorry to have to ask about such an old product. We do have plans to upgrade to newer versions, but costs are the current problem. Is there a list of all of the Exchange 2000 updates that I need to apply after KB870540? I've tried to find info on these updates, but I only see "what other people are downloading" on MS' download pages. Thanks for your time and help.

Please check for below 2 Reg Keys in Registry. HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ Proactive scanning Background scanning If both are set to 1 then make it 0. Also if your server is running more than 1GB then please use the /3GB switch in Boot.ini file Refer the below KB step by step and monitor http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325044 Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
